Mental Mel
We have Neandertal DNA from fossils, but no skin samples. Living people with that particular variant (which was ultimately inherited from Neandertals) *tend* to have less upper back hair. (Although, anecdotally, I also have it, and it doesn’t seem to have taken effect.)
In the U.S. it just means “highly animated” or “hyperactive” or “jerking around”. The word isn’t stigmatized here.
