I’ll be honest: I didn’t watch “Seinfeld” for the longest time because the episode descriptions sounded inane. (I was missing the point, obviously.)

He was terrible in Nixon. Completely artificial.

I really enjoyed it. Adapting it into a sitcom seems like a bizarre choice — a documentary or even a reality show would make more sense.

Mental Mel

We have Neandertal DNA from fossils, but no skin samples. Living people with that particular variant (which was ultimately inherited from Neandertals) *tend* to have less upper back hair. (Although, anecdotally, I also have it, and it doesn’t seem to have taken effect.)

In the U.S. it just means “highly animated” or “hyperactive” or “jerking around”. The word isn’t stigmatized here.

Do they peet it with knives in it?

It’s still a useful term to contrast against the way headlines used to be. (Not that they weren’t ever sensational, but there’s been a definite change.)
