As the review states, this episode is about chaos surrounding each respective character from all sides. The widespread effect of this chaos loses its impact when it is centralized in one character such as Malvo. While last season felt like a battle of the good (Solverson), the bad (Malvo), and the ugly (Lester), this

Also, mental illness doesn't go away because people get bored with it.

Has Gotham stopped its shedding of viewers from past spring, though? Between four episodes from early March to late April, the show dropped from a 2.0 to a 1.5. With it starting at a 1.5, the question becomes where the floor is. The Flash has been netting 1.3-1.5 on a regular basis, so I suspect it will soon overtake

After six seasons, I don't blame the writers for going back to the well. It might mean its time to prepare for the end of the show, though. In a lot of ways this season reminds me of season 7 of Buffy with the potentials: a show that was pretty content with the status quo completely shakes up the dynamics with new

I wonder what they will name it if Cary joins Alicia again and Diane takes a new role such as judge. Maybe it should just close?

Her seeming shallow also seemed to rear its head when she just fired the new investigator in such a callous manner. While we are conditioned to root for Alicia by traditional laws of storytelling, the shine is off her character more and more as the show progresses.

That's a good point about why he would go to Agos Lee. Although I wouldn't trust Eli's motives right now because he was so hurt.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the new investigator works for Eli and that he is supposed to romance Alicia to destroy her image completely, and in the process crater Peter's candidacy.

As a Pats fan, 18-1 hurts more than the butt fumble. I think at least, though when the shoe is on the other foot…

And Archer is still pretty good!

Between FX and FXX they have Louie, You're the Worst, Fargo, and The Americans. Those are more than most networks can tout. I think the fact it has been such a home for quality dramas in the past makes everyone think FX should be batting .1000. As long as The Strain and Tyrant prop up the network enough to keep these

Can the dog's perspective have night vision? Or would that be for a cat? Wait - maybe Alison and Noah each have a pet. One could even be a butterfly and…. well… effect stuff.

I thought The Affair kept things more emotionally weighty and varied than Bloodline. The latter just kept being about "Well, Danny's home." We get it.

He'll be the Daryl of the group. Daryl never made much of himself in our world, but became the real deal when the walkers struck. Maybe this guy sorts out his life as everyone gets eaten around him.

I think it is intentionally ambiguous, not supernatural. It could be either Tawny's or Daniel's. And in not knowing, it is potentially both of theirs.

Pizzolatto tried so hard this season to be writerly, he forgot how to write. Rectified just achieves its grace with such apparent ease, it really is the successor to Deadwood (where the creator worked with David Milch).

I think Amantha is a good person, to a fault sometimes, and Teddy wasn't a good person. It makes sense that when he has started to turn over a new leaf, she warms to him.

The idea of a prisoner being wrongly convicted — or in theory being wrongly convicted — seems to scare people since it is raises so many political concerns. It is too bad people get so terrified of shows that are about "things."

I have to think there will be a time jump next season. The show can't easily exist with Daniel away, so I have to assume Trey gets thrown under the bus for the other murder too and Daniel is allowed to come back. That, or the fourth season could be pretty disconnected.

What's so odd about "True Detective" is that it — in theory — doesn't exist as a fixed concept. While "American Horror Story" has similar tropes and mood, "True Detective" has virtually no overlap in its themes or characters. The first season might as well have been called "Yellow King" or "Bayou" and be done with it.
