I think the M8 coupe could be cross shopped here. It may be a bit large, but the M4 seems more sports car and less touring.

I appreciate your added commentary, makes sense. I wonder if MB thinks they might sell more of these now as a GT, or if it was just platform consolidation for profit reasons? I know the GT didn’t sell in amazing numbers, but I also wonder how many sales it really took from a 911?
I assume this means the new GT coupe is built on the SL platform? Makes sense from a cost perspective, but I wonder if it will lose a little “edge” in the handling. I’m sure it’ll still be very good for the target audience though.
Overall I agree, but I do think that there is real opportunity in level 4... but that’s mostly specialized cases. I’m thinking designed lanes for long haul shipping, or specific last-mile delivery routes... things like that.
No star for you... not because I think you are wrong, but because the thought is too depressing.
I like your take here... the separated headlights are just like the separated turn signals at the back. It is natural for us to see lighting elements clustered together. It’s natural to follow, easy to know exactly what is happening, and most important, quicker for us to process. One could argue that with enough time…
I sometimes don’t mind these... the reason being I have a car with the screen set way back and it requires the use of some dumb rotary knob. A touchscreen (for things like Android Auto... which I use every day), is so much easier to use. That controller in my car is just terrible. Therefore, I’d take a tacked on look…
As a pretty big proponent of EVs, I agree with you. I’m all for encouraging (and incentivizing) the push to zero emissions, but just making a mandate like that don’t solve issues... it just gives politicians a platform to say how great they are (and likely won’t be in office to actually deal with the problems when the…
Except this is the price of growth in the technology. If nobody builds EVs now, because they aren’t as efficient or the battery tech isn’t as good as it should be, nobody will spend development dollars to get them better. I predict battery tech will improve more in the next 10 years than it has in the past 50... not…
I’m glad you did, but this should not be on the owner. GM made an unbelievably stupid decision here.
Please this. Whomever thought this was a good idea has never driven in a parking lot.
I really wanted one of these back in the day. I don’t believe I’ve ever actually come across a manual one though.
I mean, the chicken tax is still a thing right? So Mitsu would have to build an entirely new line for this to make it even close to affordable? This seems like a less than zero chance type of thing.
There are a lot of comments on here about how terrible this looks, (and my first thought is to agree). However, I was thinking about slow roads near congested pedestrian/bike areas (like a city lake or a park), where the speed limit is only 25 (or even 20). This seems like it could work in an area like that... “could”…
Not to mention, the exterior photos you can see the standard wheel through the windshield, so good chance those were taken before the salvage incident.
Like this 1 of 700 “007" version... I mean, it is dripping with special. :)
Honest question, does that crowd actually like these though? I mean, I know every car has a few people that obsess over it, but I don’t think I’ve heard of anyone that really loved this.
It is a nice motor, I just would much prefer the manual with it. If you like auto, then I’m glad you enjoy it!
Right, but sedan only. I was referring to the wagon. (At least I’m 90% sure the wagon never offered those).
Yeah, I remember that.. but I think the v6 in the wagon (even with the auto) would have been a good match.
