Normally, Pride Month just sort of passes under my radar. I’ll see the odd meme or see a logo change, but it doesn’t really have a large presence in my social media feeds. This year, though, my feeds are full of Pride posts. At the same time, I’m listing to lots of 90's alternative, and it’s gotten me thinking about…
This weekend, I took the train from DC to NYC to attend something called BookCon. It was quite a ride, let me tell you (the con, not the train. The train was as expected).
Is anyone else getting this on every post on their Facebook feed?
I know many people are against New Years resolutions, but I really like them. It’s somewhat arbitrary, but after the craziness of the holidays, it’s kind of nice to put some thought to doing a reset.
Usually when people play the time machine game, everyone ends up trying to avert disaster of some sort. I propose a different twist on the game: The View-Only time machine. The rules:
I’m not a super-fan when it comes to Christmas. Shopping annoys me (every year, the list gets whittled down more and more), I hate wrapping, the tree is fine but it’s annoying to get it up and down, and I do the bare minimum when it comes to decorating. The one thing I go balls to the wall on: COOKIES.
So, I don’t mind Halloween. I like giving out candy. I like seeing kids in costumes. I like watching my own kids go through their haul. I like Halloween candy.
For those that don’t know, DMC is one of the largest makers of embroidery thread. If you ever did friendship bracelets in the US, chances are good that you were grabbing DMC thread.
This popped up on my Facebook feed this AM, and I thought of GT. I live vicariously through others’ OKC stories since I missed the boat on that, and I could see some of them being a great addition to a book that allows a wider audience to do the same.
My day opened up with this WTF, so I had to share. My favorite bit is when she calls the wife “bougie” and how she and the dude are more alike because they “just like to laugh and enjoy life.” Like that trait is so unique.
On Prime Day, I got a sous vide. I get SUPER bored in the summer because we can’t turn on the oven, and even have to be careful about how long something is on the stove (learned that the hard way when I had three pots going for 30 minutes). While I love my slow-cooker, after a while, everything starts to taste like…
I was putting dinner together and, as is always the case, had to do a spice hunt. This got me to thinking about something that I’m super picky about: Spice jars.
I hate summer cooking. I haaaaaaate it. You know why I haven’t posted? Because everything is SO BORING. Like, my little notebook has had NOTHING new in it for WEEKS because I have to limit myself to what doesn’t heat up the kitchen too much (and we learned that, yes, even too much stovetop action can do that). I’m…
Let me just say that the kids were SUPER fucking thrilled to be woken up before 10 by me presenting them with to-do lists.
I do coding videos, and today I did a silly blog about how coding is like knitting. I wanted to share, because I’m weirdly proud of it!
So, this came up towards the end of therapy today, and it’s been rattling in my head all day. Buckle up for a rant, y’all.
Our vacuum is kaput. It heats up to a dangerous level within minutes of starting it up. We’ve tried cleaning it as best we can, but obviously, something else is going on.
I have two picky eaters and a spouse who strongly dislikes a few things that I dearly love. This is me at least once a month.
Hello, everyone! What’s everyone cooking this week? Is there a recipe you’re hunting for, or that you just want to share because it’s awesome?
