How on earth can you say five-year-old foreign national who doesn’t even speak English can give informed consent? By their logic American kindergartners should be able to apply for passports.

I used to argue that voting Republican was, at best, a morally neutral act. I now firmly believe that voting for anyone currently associated with the Republican Party, no matter how “moderate” they seem, is an actively immoral act.  

Every time I read one of these horrifying stories about how deplorably it was discovered a child was treated after they are returned to their family I wonder about the children who still haven’t been returned. Or who won’t be returned because someone decided that the document a toddler signed makes it okay to adopt…

I mean, definitely a person under 18 can’t have an abortion without her parents’ written approval but that’s TOTALLY DIFFERENT because, see, that’s a medical procedure that we need to control for her because she’s young and dumb. This is just some kid who isn’t going to see her mom and dad for another six months…

Where/when in this country do we ever allow someone under the age of 18 to sign a legal and binding contract??  Much less a five year old.  This is beyond ridiculous.

I just honestly don’t understand how someone can see that child’s attempt at practicing her letters on a legal document that keeps her away from her parents and not see anything wrong with it.
