Expensive service in the future? I daily a 99 C43 with 297k miles on the clock. These are up there with some of the most reliable cars MB has ever made. Also, none of the “omg AMG” parts fail. The only things that are AMG-specific are internal engine components and they’ll never fail. I replaced a water pump 2 years

These comments are comedy gold.

I can’t help but immediately love this ridiculous thing. I’d daily it! NP.

He gutted the 2ndary cats. The primary cats are still intact and almost certainly clogged.

As someone who owns 2 C43 AMG’s:

There will never be a 6 speed C43 AMG. It’s simply not possible unless someone is willing to program an entirely custom and C43-specific ECU, TCU, and CANBUS system. When there were roughly 3,500 cars built, there’s a market of around 5 total people.

Having extensive experience with the c43 AMG, because I own 2 of them, I can assure you those seats are seeing more than normal wear. I have one listed with almost double the miles and its interior is nowhere near that bad. I can only speculate.

Original gen1 w202 C-class C36 was not supercharged. It was a naturally aspirated 3.6 litre M104 straight six with 286hp. The C43 did have the n/a v8, though (4.3l m113 with 302 hp)

All true. I like a challenge and look for diamonds in the rough in this same category. Proof: I bought a 2 owner C43 AMG with 238,000 miles on it. Now at 297,000 miles with no real trouble.

The problem is, it convinces people who know me to try the same, and go against my own advice to them. So, run out and by a 1999

Am I the only one who was eagerly awaiting the rumored 300hp turbo AWD 6mt Dart GLH? That sounded quite neat.

Honestly, it’s all kinda bullshit. Brother’s wife has a top-spec 200s with the 2.4l and the issue isn’t really an issue unless you look for it. I hadn’t noticed it until this article. I’m 6'0" 180lbs. I mean, have you ever gotten into the back of a Mercedes CLS? Same issue. Did you give a shit?

It’s an all-around good

Is this real life?

Replacing an M120 with an LS is tantamount to literal treachery.

It’s the engine in the Zonda, after all.

I think that seat design is a throwback to the original C class AMG’s. The up-ticked ones came in Tuxedo and are sort-of sought after by some folks. Neither of my C43’s have this color setup :(

the reliability of one of GM’s most stout and longest produced engines.

I promised myself I’d stop clicking/reading/commenting upon obvious faux-edgy clickbait articles that intentionally go against the grain for the sake of going against the grain. But you win.

I see your point. I have no explanation other than speculation. Apparently a great many Euro model w202’s saw epic levels of rust. I live in the southeastern US and see a great deal of rain. My 1994 C280 went from 14k miles to 255k miles without a single instance of rust. I knew every single nut and bolt on that car,

I’ve owned 3 of the first-gen C-class, and have no idea what you’re on about. Sitting in my driveway right now is my daily driver 1999 C43 AMG with 295,000 miles, and my future E55-engine-swap-monster 1998 C43 with 213,000 miles. Neither car has ever needed more than a water pump or suspension bushings, and both

Not to get all “brand loyal fanboy” but I’ve noticed this too. On their review of the BMW M5 with a V10, they even explained on the show that during the review they completely exploded the rear differential (but still loved the car).

This is half the reason I drive AMG.

I concur. I will be a third owner Hellcat driver, except it will be mostly a garage queen.

Meh, nothing more expensive than a regular C280 (from which it was built). The only “AMG” specific parts are cosmetic or engine internals that will never need maintenance.
