Except that it’s in Fremont, not exactly the middle of nowhere, and the factory was previously used by Toyota and GM. Manufacturers have been building cars here for ages and, if I understand correctly, Tesla’s currently employing about 30K people here in the Bay Area.
Old fart here: I just stay out of the way when the bus pulls up and let women, children and folks older than me get on first (this last group seems to be shrinking more rapidly than I’d prefer). No need to make a show about it. If the bus is almost full, those that need a seat get first shot at them. If there’s a…
*shrug* I enjoy a little music while riding, even if the bike I’m riding plays “music” out of the pipes like my 916 or VFR. A Bluetooth helmet and Spotify makes for a nice time while out and about, in my opinion.
Interestingly, Yamaha actually owns Ohlins.
What on earth are you talking about?
These scenes are pretty much what the country’s highways and streets looked like when I was in college and high school. Note the utter lack of pickup trucks and van. Minivans weren’t invented yet.
I had some work done on my VW Beetle done back in the late 70s and on inspecting their work, I found a nice 3/8 Snap On ratchet that I still have.

That stuff is pretty silly, but their protective motorcycle gear is first rate.
Bravo! That thing is perfect!
Yep. Technologist first, businessman second.
Exactly my thoughts. We’re still very early in the EV world, so I think of the market that way. We haven’t yet begun large scale cannibalization of ICE based vehicles. I don’t think there’s any doubt that we can now see the end of ICE, especially with national legislation being passed in Europe. All manufacturers…
What’s the old saying? “In theory, practice and theory are the same. In practice, theory and practice are never the same.”
Tesla seems to be big on innovation, but seems to have greater difficulty with actually being a car company and, you know, delivering cars.
People are all about the Repsol stuff, but I think these, due to the controversy surrounding Camel at the time, will be worth more.
Thanks. Lemme ungray you and give you a star.
Thank you!
I’m guessing dealing with the carbs and rubber bits, based on comments. I’ve done that with old bikes I’ve purchased.
