In 1980, Ford introduced the Mustang GT version, which came with TRX Michelin tires and dedicated wheels. It also came with all of 150hp. At the time, most cars were making less than 100hp, so this was kind of a big deal. So much so, that Car and Driver had an article about it, complete with an overhead view of a

My brother had one of the Mitsubishi versions of that. Reliable, but uninspired.

If you’re buying a local use EV, why would you bother with either of these? Even more pointedly, why would you buy new?

I can’t believe nobody recommended he buy a dead Jeep out of a barn, fix it and drive it halfway across the country with a sketchy differential.

Twitter seems to serve no other purpose than being a giant noise machine. I joined in like 2009 and that was evident pretty quickly. My take is that Twitter has shown that not every person really needs to have a voice they share with the world.

It feels more uninspired than anything else to me. Haven’t we already seen this sausage in a different length in the S? Th3 3 has exactly no identity of its own and, if anything, seems to say that Tesla really doesn’t have any design ideas at all.

Between reliability issues and dealing with updated software, it appears that Tesla is learning that building cars isn’t quite as easy as they might have imagined. The power plant is one thing, but the real complexity is making the rest of the car.

The 500 is also the rarer of the two versions, if I recall correctly. The underlying engine, introduced in the mid 70s, was way ahead of its time. 10K redline. Pushrods. A sideways Vtwin and shaft drive. The CX500/650 was pretty far out there and bolting a turbo to it in 1982 really pushed it over the edge, in my

I flew with a woman who was holding a 1yo on her lap. As they were pressurizing the plane, she made sure he had his binky and was using it. No tears for the kiddo on take off.

Thanks for posting this! I think my only reservations about working on this bike are really centered around valve adjustment.

I only put a few thousand miles a year on my 916. I’m 58 and I’m good for a couple hours a day on that bike - max. At this rate, it’ll be another few years before I have to do anything to it.

I bet it sounds GLORIOUS.

If you’re reasonably competent and are OK with pretty much removing the entire front end. YOu’ll need a couple long drifts to pound the old races out, a bearing puller to get the old bearing off the stem and and a level of bravery that is required to install your new bearings on the stem and races in the head. Those that don’t learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.

I think I talked to those guys at Pebble Beach last year when they were showing that black Corvette. They’re hoonigans like us and should be accepted with open arms into our families.

It’s the best part of our system, isn’t it? There’s room for both of us.

I suspect he was one of those insufferably naive college Libertarians, as well. You know, the kind that think once we get all those dad gum regulations out of the way, every business will play nice with each other in our free enterprise wonderland.

We can differ. :)

I bet it’d make a nice replacement for the current Presidential limousine and would be a little closer to the President’s heart.

Totally agree. I also remember that I was once in my 20s and thought I could get away with anything, including riding/driving marginally functional motorcycles and cars long distances.
