This might be the 5th time today I have to explain racism.

A few days before the inauguration, I walked right past Ivanka on her way into Macy’s. I was literally in the midst of a delightful daydream about the Obamas, and the shock I felt had more to do with being ripped away from that happy place than seeing her. Then I was nauseous for like four hours. I imagine I’d feel

While I feel bad for your friend, “cracker” isn’t really a racial slur. Was “cracker” yelled at whites while black mobs chased them down and lynched them? Was “cracker” used when beating a white slave for being overworked or “disobedient” to his black master? Nope, not even a little. I know it’s hard for some people

Pfft doubt it, the ability to slag off a person of authority in private then immediately fawn over the same person when encountering him for real starts off at a very young age. I’m willing to bet most Jezzies here would react exactly the same if Trump suddenly walked in as he is prone to doing.

I realize you “people” do not like common sense in your echo chamber

Nah, you keep harassing me verbally and degrading me as a person simply because of the color of my skin? You’re lucky if the teacher stops me from beating your ass to a pulp.

Not necessarily, one of my parents, on at least two occasions did exactly as I described when I was a kid.

Zero tolerance policies only matter to them when being used to feed the school-to-prison pipeline.

What the fuck does any of that have to do with what happened here? I’m tired of white people being so fucking fragile and defensive and acting like racism and bullying by black kids somehow negates or trivializes racism and bullying against black kids—did you ever stop to think *gasp* if the tables were turned, people

All the people talking shit about your ideas are just deluded into thinking the system is equal for both sides. Bully and victim. White and black. Similarly abusive.

To be fair, the video pretty much exclusively shows physical violence. People are bad at context, which matters greatly. The whole part about this kid harassing and threatening his family will probably be glossed over.

Of course not, slugger. Teachers should, however, look at the situation and dole out punishment where it is needed. That fact that your fellow bigot didn’t get punished is what’s behind the outrage this story is attracting.

A black student at Wake Forest High School in Wake Forest, N.C., says he was tired of racial harassment and abuse—including threats against him and his family—and that that led him to get into a physical altercation with a white student.

What it looks like to me is that you don’t fucking read. The article stipulates that the asshole who called the young man a “Black piece of shit” was not punished and the phrase can be heard clear as day on the video.

Racism isn’t just about “hurt feelings.” Get outta here with that.

Being labeled an ‘asshole’ from a third party won’t change how he interacts with society.

Imagine Micah telling her something to the effect of “get out of my way you dumb cunt!” I can guarantee you she would have a completely different reaction to using “just words”.

White dude uses slur, rightfully gets dragged and white authority figure shows up and chastises/punishes black student defending himself. This is a microcosm for how modern day racism manifests itself.

That teacher really grinds my gears. Telling only the black student to get to the office, because the white kid only “used words.” Then telling the black student “don’t touch me” while simultaneously getting in his face and blocking his path.

This is typical though isn’t it? A school doesn’t do a damn thing about someone being bullied and then when the person being abused decides to stand up for themselves the administration complains that the student should have come to them. Really? Because when Micah tells the teacher that the bastard was using racial
