Nah I think it was more of a visual representation of Elliot’s nagging worry over Tyrell’s whereabouts and wellbeing.
He’s aware that the Mr. Robot part of him knows what happened to Tyrell, but he cannot access the information because it’s hogtied and locked away in the trunk of his brain, so to speak.
