Well darn. I was really hoping Nora would stick around next year. I’m also not really clear on how time remnants work and why she seems to be the exception to the rule.

-Gary’s turn back to face felt a bit too easy; we stopped to acknowledge all the little shitty things the Legends did to him but he hasn’t atoned yet for the much bigger sins he’s committed over the past few episodes. He didn’t seem to realize or care that he’d been terrible too. And no, “I could have done way worse”

You write as though I’ve written off the show as anti-feminist (I didn’t say this) or as racist (I didn’t say that either), as opposed to simply denoting the way story choices echo longstanding criticisms of the show. It is disingenuous to dismiss identity-based criticism as a claim that art loses any and all value

Unfortunately not, but at this point, it might be a forever dangling plot point. It can be easy to patch by assuming that she was always meant to be the proper influence on Lucifer, by crossing his path (no matter what the timeline, as in Once Upon a Time)

As always, I am hesitant to reply to comments with the knowledge that the Kinja system elevates Staff contributions and thus the comments themselves, but I want to address this since I’ve seen it pop up a couple of times in my notifications.

Had to keep myself from these reviews while watching (the downside of streaming), but now look forward to getting through the always excellent work Latoya!

I feel 13 episodes would’ve been perfect. Not even in a punny way. The 10 episodes kept the story tight and focused, but it also felt very rushed. 13 episodes would’ve given more time for B stories, meaning Ella and Dan’s existential crises.

I love the new Netflix format + freedom, love the characters. All in all, this was such a fun season! I hope they renew.

I was watching it, and I was thinking “This is definitely from a comic. There’s no way any TV writer would be this cracked-out about the power-of-the-sun thing.”

Honestly maybe even worst served than Dany’s arc was Jaime’s.

What in the seven hells was Jaime’s plan? Did he seriously want to run back to Cersei, even when it was clear she hired a hitman to kill him? The framing of their death being tragic was really weird.

I was most excited for this review because I think the Caleb stuff was potent. Like, yeah. Amenadiel’s bond with Caleb could’ve been stronger if it’d been introduced earlier in the season. But the acting and story still sell its impact on Amenadiel. The standoff between the police and Amenadiel was really well-done.

I think the craziest thing about this show is the ability to have so much cheap fan service+sexploitation+shipping that just works beautifully and on all levels. Take note GoT!

I’m waiting for someone to repurpose “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” lyrics to Eve.

My favorite moment from this episode is the silent understanding between Lucifer and Amenadiel after Caleb was killed. Lucifer fully understands what his brother needs to do and is ready to help.

As in Maze’s mother, not Frasier’s ex-wife.

My favorite part of the proposal scene is Amenadiel trying to figure out where to put his other hand, finally settling on a jaunty cocked elbow that looks not at all natural. I laughed out loud. He is such a dork.

So happy to see this show back! And in such fine form. And I’m not just talking about Lucifer’s ass.

Who else just had to sing along with the opening tune? Perfect return for a perfect show.

I don’t know if it’s just me imagining it but it really feels like this season they got to make the show that they want without the hand of network executives on them. It’s still the same show when it was on a network, just feels...free if that makes sense. I’ve really, really enjoyed what I’ve watched so far this

It’s so good to see this silly, silly show back. I’m a few episodes in, and—I really think this is some of the show’s best work. I loved the reveal at the end of this episode.
