They actually did work together, not as overtly as the film is suggesting. But they did, her nephew has screenplay credit on it and he’s talked about it before
People are so quick to tear down a great female filmmaker and also to totally dismiss it as a “romcom” a pretty inherently sexist statement.
A trailer can be made to make a movie look very different from how it actually is. Some amazing trailers have existed for some seriously lackluster movies and vice versa. I'm going to hold out hope this is the case here.
holding out hope because the script was one of the best I have read in a long time
I’ll give you the fact that it’s a bad trailer—too often movies pick a historical woman and insert her into a Generic Empowerment Movie instead of the character study that would be so much better. And Hammer’s success in Call Me By Your Name probably shaped the marketing. However, the “I can’t tell what year it is”…
It seems pretty obvious to me from the clothing that it starts out in the 1950s and continues in the 1960s. There’s nothing ambiguous at all about that.
IF YOU CANT CARE FOR A BABY PUT IT UP FOR ADOPTION
If a man starved his child he would go to jail. If he willing poisoned his baby he would go to jail.
The prosecution of this crime and the protection of other women and addicts are two separate things. They have to be. This woman was negligent and depraved and she killed a child.
I think the key issue in here is that she allegedly breastfed her daughter because she was too “exhausted” to fix her a bottle of formula. The mother knew she was an addict and still using, so her decision to breastfeed her child, no matter what the cause, is unconscionable and directly led to the child’s death. This…
Being impaired isn’t an excuse.... being drunk an excuse for killing someone while driving, hitting your wife, or rapping someone. Drug addiction isn’t an excuse for neglect or depraved heart murder. Simple as that. It’s sad to be burdened by addiction. But everything she did after that is pure cruelty and abuse
lol @ your last sentence... not imprisoning/sterilizing them is stripping them of their human rights omg you can’t make this up.
Yea that science about drug babies has all been completely disproved.
If someone has killed multiple babies due to their addictions, whether you find them sympathetic or not, they don’t deserve and are not capable of living in free society.
This is sad, but people going through rehab should try to avoid getting pregnant to avoid issues like this.
It may not be 100% but for most people it seems to offer excellent protection. You can take down a battleship if you throw enough rocks at it.
Listen, the reason is, I need to cry in a controlled setting.
Totally! The episode where she eats the edibles with William? 😂
I watch because it’s one of the few dramas that is relatable in some sense and for fuck sake it’s not another terribly scripted reality show
