I have a soft spot for Detective Lydia Adams, as played by Regina King in Southland. Her character exhibited a persistent determination to do the right thing, despite being surrounded by people who did not. She frequently got rapped on the knuckles as a consequence of playing it straight. That show died far too early,

Shades is the counterpoint to Misty. What made the story work (for me) was that the two “sides” mirror one another in structure. You have Mariah and Luke as the primary forces of the two sides. Shades and Misty sort of operate as motivators to the protagonist and antagonist. This is why Mariah is such an awesome

Holy shit, by all means stick with it. IMO it’s the best of the four seasons of Marvel we’ve had so far.

The whole Method Man scene was fantastic, just fantastic.

I like how we had multiple women of color, on the same side, not fighting over a man, and if they did fight it was over their principles. I actually wanted more physicality out of Misty (perhaps the same power level as Trish from JJ).

I think she might, considering she went from a bullet wound straight through her bicep, to having said arm in a sling, to having complete and uninhibited use of the same arm roughly 24 hours later.

And they gave her the comic book “costume” at the end of the season. Here’s hoping for some freelance ass-kickery in S2. (Excuse my shitty rushed photoshop job.)

This version of Misty may not have a bionic arm like her comic-book counterpart does
