That’s a pretty lousy analysis of their position. I mean, liberal means being on the side of labor, and in the NBA, the players are the labor. So any policy which restricts their wages by limiting ownership wage competition is necessarily illiberal (both politically and by the definition of economic liberalism). So...

Eh, to me it’s fine to blame both, since I don’t actually think parity is something the NBA should make a special effort to strive toward—especially not if its means of striving is a cap on what players can earn.
