Boy… I don't know. I think Mask of the Phantasm, despite its unquestionable brilliance, was hamstrung by its time constraints. For instance, we never got an explanation or even a hint for how Andrea actually became the Phantasm. Not giving the viewers even the briefest of explanations about the stuff she was capable

Yes, Mad Love tells the tale of Harley's transformation into a psychotic villain. Fantastic episode! (The tragedy, at least to me, was not including a commentary track for this episode. )

Topping the Dark Knight? Prior to that movie's existence, I'd 100% agree.

Mask of the phantasm might arguably be the BEST Batman movie. Well… it cedrtainly was prior to the "The Dark Knight."
Can you repost (or reply) when you see "Over the Edge" or "Mad Love" or "Judgment Day". I'd like your take on those episodes.

Well said. Been wondering the same thing myself.

Tough choice. I choose to support the film by seeing it today at its first showing. More movies - not necessarily depicting slavery, but featuring Black heroic figures - like this need to be made.
In this current, yet ever-present climate of police abuse and shootings (read: murder) of Black people, The Birth of a

Do you have a link for the "preserve the black man" quote? (couldn't find it.)

Good points. I agree with you on several things. Tyler Perry has helped keep a number of actors employed while giving several others who were just starting an opportunity to showcase their skills. His cast and crew are almost always predominantly Black (good). Sadly, as you mentioned, none of our films should have to

No, he's the hero. Actually, they also had the dark-skinned (same actor) as the male hero in last year's "The Perfect Guy".

Because, unlike the other two you mentioned, he dresses as a woman who portrays a lot of negative stereotypes?

Holy sh-t! The description of this (cruelly tough) game made me bust a hard gut. Thanks.

Dammit! I've been looking forward to watching and supporting this movie since I first heard about it months ago. Now, I'm too conflicted to go see it.

Wow. Your avatar pic is truly creepy. Where's it from?

I thought about him zig-zagging as well and then I thought, "Well, if the objective is to get to your allies as quickly as possible, running in a straight line would be best."
Either way, that "game", predictable result or not, was just cruel.

Not to mention that "Dear White People" will be coming to Netflix as a series next year.
Yeah, they're definitely breaking the law.

You're preaching to the choir on the poor storytelling. I said earlier that Amanda Waller/Viola Davis was under served by that poor storytelling decision. Don't get me wrong: i stand by my original statement that she was the only aspect of this movie that I liked. In animation and comics, she's actually killed for

I definitely agree with you on your last point (to make her more of an antagonist to our "heroes"). I think the post-credits scene hinted at that as well. There's already some animosity between Amanda Waller and Bruce Wayne. With that scene - and by extension, this movie - they've possibly set up Waller as a catalyst

Gotta disagree with you as well. Captain Boomerang may be behind Grand and the Reverse Flashes. But he's every bit as significant as Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Trickster, etc.

Yeah, that caught me off-guard as well.
But I've always seen Amanda Waller - in any iteration - as someone who believes in "acceptable losses" (i.e. can't make an omelet without cracking a few eggs.) Plus, there was a conversation earlier in the movie where someone (can't recall who) made a point to her past

Thanks for this link. I saw this movie last night and I was surprised the Joker wasn't in it more given all the talk about Leto's preparation. Reading all those cut scenes and the alternate opening with Enchantress makes me think that they had a decent movie that was wrecked by poor editing choices.
I hated the movie
