I have read a lot about her case over the past years and I’m not wholly convinced she’s a psychopath. You should read up on cult psychology and how brainwashing and depersonalization can indoctrinate almost anyone. Cult leaders, religious or otherwise, are so frightening because they use their charisma and their own

Van Houten didn’t have anything to do with Sharon Tate though.

Yeah they don’t count people who are still in prison when they calculate recidivism rates. That’s not how this works.

I know what she did. I have seen pictures. I still think 50 years in a cell is enough.

It’s a shocking murder by any means, but Sharon Tate was 8 months pregnant, I believe.

The Manson murders have reached iconic, mythic status. That’s pretty much it.

I don’t excuse premeditated murder but when you get past 30 years in prison and the prisoner has rehabilitated I’m unclear on the reason to hold them behind bars.

Is there a reason that this crew has been in jail for 40+ years when other people who’ve been convicted of similar crimes have a lesser sentence? The Economist is also a terrible publication full of warmed-over profit über alles propaganda given the thinnest possible veneer of intellectual impartiality, but agreed there isn’t much for your average teen girl in those pages.

I understand and appreciate what you’re saying.

I hear you and I don’t disagree. But neither the Economist or Atlantic intersperse their articles with fluff specifically geared toward teen girls. I think teens can enjoy following politics while also getting how-tos on the latest hairstyle trends from the same source.

I saw an online ad today that began “Trump’s On A Roll”.

And like Kinja, everything is on the right.

Russia might be.

And makes us yearn for the previous iterations and leaves us begging to go back to how things were, which wasn’t so bad after all...

It’s a fairly distinct CancerAIDS variant, in that it’s less functionally effective than primary forms and attribution is more difficult.

He’s like the Kinja of presidents: Ugly by design, never wants to work and is preoccupied with making everything a white space.
