I didn't get the impression that he asked that because he didn't know the answer- I thought he was just getting her to say it on camera.

I do think that the Great Depression and WWII inspire more of an emotional response in us, as a society, compared to WWI, etc. They're still in our collective memory and just feel more relevant to the world we live in today.

Sure. Little known fact: finding someone personally "likable" isn't the same thing as thinking that they're perfect, or agreeing with all of their actions. TR was a warmongerer and more than a little bit nuts, but I found him charismatic and entertaining.

Yeah, marrying a fifth cousin is really NBD, genetically-speaking. I think it just seems weirder in this case because their families were still close, and they already had the same last name (I was somewhat taken aback when I first discovered that, haha).

Odd that this review didn't even touch on the TR episodes, which I found (by far) the most interesting of the series. I had to force myself to keep going after he died, because the series hit a bit of a lull afterwards, although it did pick back up.

I think Aaron benefited the most from ridiculously high judging praise, given how little actual dancing he did in his routine. I get that it's not his genre, but he basically served as Kathryn's forklift for the majority of that dance.
