Given the AVClub love of baking shows, Podcasts and the Good Place, I think most of us know who she is

Just to reiterate your point.

“and said that it wouldn’t really be a zombie heist flick like Army Of The Dead.”

Will Snyder platform fascist Sean Spicer for a cameo again?

Ol’ boy who thinks they are casting “just to please the Black community” ought to get up on game. Dood, they NEVER do anything just to please us. Get serious! Sit down and shut up while we applaud Leslie Grace’s talent.

Exactly. Comic Books have re-cast and re-invented their universes so many times that trying to make this an issue is laughable. They got over it when Sam Jackson smashed it as Fury and they will do the same here assuming there are no Green Lantern scale fuck-ups.

I see now that it came out in 2005, that seems both too long ago and not long enough ago.  It was definitely before I had a Kindle though!

I didn’t know about Lenny Henry’s involvement aside from the audiobook. That makes me slightly more charitably inclined toward it. I still found it quite derivative and reminiscent of a little known Lenny Henry vehicle Bernard and the Genie, crossed with Nalo Hopkinson’s Midnight Robber. But since both Henry and

the director’s plan to white-wash all of the characters”

Okay, Neil - time to name and shame this unspeakable idiot.

Read “The Ocean at the End of the Lane.” Much of that is based upon Neil’s youth, including his father's affair with the babysitter.

It’s basically an American Gods spinoff.

So, Orlando Jones gets to make certain people of power very uncomfortable again?  I’m for it!

As someone currently being treated for cancer (fortunately mine’s stayed in one place so far), I wish Mark all the best and also, fuck cancer.

Thankfully, my brother is a survivor of this type of cancer. If there’s a “good” side in any of this, Stage 4 is still bad and scary, but with lymphoma, it’s staged and categorized differently than other cancers.

I knew that one of the members of Harvey Danger* died a few years back, and, looking it up...bass player, so maybe there’s something to that.

This... I like this comment. I didn’t wanna, but I can’t help it.

Bad news, Blink-182 had many hits. If the bassist from Harvey Danger were sick it would be a different story.

i know the comment sections here are very anti blink, but Mark is a great guy and I hope he can get through this

Sounds dope. I ordered this on the strength of the 2nd preview illustration alone, but I’m also an avowed footnote lover and it sounds like it’s a really good introduction to the style and material.
