The REAL subtext is that Ariel’s journey is a metaphor for human evolution from Devonian tetrapods developing legs and lungs and colonizing the land. The Prince represents a meteor, and Urusula represents Phylum Mollusca rather directly. It’s all right there.

Why don’t casting directors get an Oscar? I am not saying that they necessarily should, I am saying that I am suprised that they have not changed the system so that they do. They are one of the few title card jobs that is shut out.

I never understood why that line got such harsh reactions. Young people say that about songs.
