Is this sarcasm? I don’t get it, they are criticizing the current Gizmodo group of sites for focusing so heavily on the current President and it’s completely in line with the message of the article.

I think you misunderstood his post. He is saying that the (formerly known as) Gawker family of websites are doing the same thing that the article’s author is complaining about. All Trump all the time, with no room for other important things going on.
