I don’t think it would be too hard to make this capable of carrying an adult. I suspect the main things would be to replace the wheels and possible a higher ampage battery.

Here is something to consider. If created, there is a very good chance that tool would be stored on a computer within the FBI network. The US government is notoriously bad at computers. It’s a systemic problem. How long would it be before this tool was stolen?Probably the next day!

Maybe Apple has the domain knowledge to be able to carefully disassemble a phone and desolder the on board Flash memory? If they did, they could extract the encrypted contents of the memory, and then let the FBI or NSA crack it at their leisure.

I think I would rather have Apple holding the key and a judges court order being a standard of search, then a situation where the FBI with the keys or some sort of legislation that breaks encryption for products sold in the US or something idiotic like that.

Yes, just as there’s no problem with search and seizures with a warrant. Whether it’s a warrant or other court order, judicial supervision is involved. The issue isn’t searches with a warrant/court order, it’s warrant less searches.
