This concept never really sat right with me. Swamp Thing and Etrigan, etc are monsters, not heroes. They don’t team up for the greater good. They form uneasy alliances based usually on bribery and blackmail. And contrary to usual superhero form, they usually don’t solve problems with giant fights and explosions.

Eh. I thought the same thing about Suicide Squad when that was announced, and that (ugh) was made. I think at the time, WB was all about going full-steam, regardless of the perceived popularity/obscurity of the characters. They were banking imho on taking a “rogue” path to building their DC film universe that would

I’m not by any means thinking they copied, etc. Ideas get recycled unintentionally all the time. That said, I thought of both Frighteners and...

Geez. If it was, it even failed at that. Having just done my first visit to Oahu, they didn’t actually do a whole lot of featuring of the place. That show underwhelmed on multiple levels.

That’s welcome news. Really the biggest crime here is that we didn’t get a new, true Pixar short. Those always helped set a great tone for their films.

Vanity Fair does “that comic book look” about as well as Hollywood movies do “hacking” on screen.

This thread. Awkward.

I get how it’s annoying, but in the hands of good storytellers, it can be done well. I realize that not everyone agrees, but Jyn Erso in the combined Catalyst, Rebel Rising, and Rogue One stories is an example of this phenomenon done well, so much that I see her as an integral part of the SW universe. Marvel Comics

Anyone know if the branded SW Bloxels can be used to create the regular old unbranded Bloxels games or your custom themes? This is totally one of those great toys for my kids that I’m now considering buying for them because of my personal interest. Selfish bastard.

I was privileged enough to have a few of these beauties... The show was in fact real. Silly fun. Always thought it’d be cool to see a Silverhawks / Gatchaman team up.

Yeah, I might take my JL ticket money (and 2 hours) and pay for CBS All Access this weekend to binge Discovery through Thanksgiving.

Now playing

Just remembered...that cancelled mobile game, Star Wars: Uprising, also explored narrative elements dealing with smugglers, piracy, etc. They had your character making connections in shady marketplaces and bars. I really dug that. And eventually you’d run across underworld types that would sympathize with / support

I have a strong suspicion we may get that here...something with barely a mention of the Force. Think it’s fairly likely this could be something in the vein of the show Lucas was working on, Star Wars: Underworld. With Rogue One’s lack of Jedi, and what I assume will be a Jedi-less Solo that is likely to include

Agreed. But I’d even settle for rights to FF villains and ancillary characters. We need Galactus and his Heralds in the cosmic reaches of the MCU. Doctor Doom, Kang, Fin a Fang Foom, or even Mole Man would fit really well in a world with Avengers.

Seriously though, I don’t think it’s just the different approach regarding the team movie. I think a different creative team and studio could’ve skillfully pulled off an amazing version of BvS that could’ve launched a solid DC film universe, but instead we got what and who we got making, managing, and bankrolling BvS

They had logos in BvS. Sheesh. What more do you want? The DC hate is real.

Forceback or Force ghost. No doubt.

Like when they found that ancient iPad next to the Rosetta Stone? Or ye olde outboard motor on the indigenous American canoe? C’mon now. That’s beyond hand waving. That’s full on...

For the record, I’m with you. Always struck me as weird. Somehow the things in the images below existed thousands of years before the Prequels and OT, and yet no one really remembers/mentions what the fuck went down with the Old Republic or the threat of the Sith, and some actually don’t believe in “hokey” weapons

Which is a huge relief. For a while I was stressing that I was going to die in a world where the last SW chapter we’d have was Revenge of the Sith without even the option of a quality digital release of the non-special edition OT.
