I totally agree with you! Unfortunately I've found this is one of the best ways to get someone to back off because alot of men say to themselves "Oh well it's not that she isn't interested" and are far less likely to respond rudely. Of course there are some that just riff on the boyfriend "Oh I don't see him here" etc…

I think the difference is the male characters are usually depicted in a way that implies power, and the female characters are constantly portrayed as sex objects..Sometimes the differences are subtle, but I think people would be pretty shocked if Spiderman had a huge bulging cock drawn with the intention to titilate..
