I actually think it’s bigger than just the expectation of celibacy. If it was just celibacy that was the problem, then there’d be a whole bunch of priests sleeping with adults - “extramarital affairs” outside of the church (which there is).

OK fine, I concede. Keep the songs, lose the gimmicks.  Although I have to say the Oscars where they brought that group of people in having no idea they were about to walk into the Oscars was pretty great.  Again, I really get a kick out of regular people getting to live out this awesome experience.
