I didn't immediately think "cannibals!" after the second-last episode, but came straight here to the AV Club to check the review. Once it was mentioned here the penny dropped in a "I should have known" way. I think there were a few reasons people were thinking along the cannibal lines. The availability of so much meat

Oh, I agree there's way too much nitpicking, e.g. there's no need to keep revisiting stuff like, "so how long does it take a person to turn into a Walker, anyway? 5 seconds or 10 hours? Because in episode…" etc. But still, this show almost reaches high notes that push it into another category, so people feel let down

Sophia was "probably dead", yet Darryl spent a whole season in pursuit of her…

It's all pretty much just treading water until GoT starts up again.

Food for thought (ahem!): Who would they want to eat first? What's their selection criteria? It's not like any of their new Walking Food are overweight and obvious picks. "That's some great thigh. The cellulite really gives it a flavour kick, don't you think?"

Apart from the flashbacks, I really enjoyed this episode. Even though it was very "Deliverance" of them, the scene with Carl scared the hell out of me. I don't think TWD has approached this level of horror before. PS Also agree with the reviewer that I'd be more upset now if Michonne was killed than if Rick was taken

Even while he died, Joe was nothing to me. Just someone who hung out with Darryl for a couple of episodes. If it wasn't for this thread, I think I would have already forgotten him. (The redneck directing his attention at Carl…. now THAT is something I won't forget. My God.) Darryl never man-crushed on Joe, even IF

The flashbacks bored me, really. Only part of the episode that did. But Jordan, you seem to be agreeing with Wynstone by saying it's a well-worn suspense technique. I think it's too warn.

As the reviewer pointed out, this plot point has inelegantly neglected. I too was annoyed at Darryl's explanation. "Just…. gone." Not, "She's kidnapped." Same amount of words, one conveying a lot more information.

I never really believed that Daryl had bonded with his hillbilly hood to the extent that some others believe (and indeed, in this episode he indicated to Rick that it was just a group to fall in with at the time). However, the emotional part of me responded to "You are my brother." I'm also glad that a good number of

Just laughed out loud.

Agreed. Though it was a nice coupling idea at first, their personalities seemed to have disappeared once they got married. Wait… is this perhaps the most realistic plot turn of the series, asks a cynic?

True. And I also felt that Andrea had reached a level of empowerment (after mowing down all those zombies) that she was on an adrenalin high and ripe for a fierce, but impersonal, coupling. That's before she became Little Miss Submissive in the Woodbury series.

1) Isn't it funny - I'm not sure what the age of consent is here in Australia. Just looked it up - 16 in my state and most of our states. Fair enough.

I can’t believe I didn’t see this post earlier?? Otherwise I would have responded immediately – I just expanded my gmail notification and saw it was hidden, collapsed away in that cute little way gmail goes about things. Sorry!

That woman was high on somethin'.

Thanks! I didn't until you pointed it out to me, making me laugh out loud and remember that I'm a dickhead. That sort of messy enthusiasm is characteristic, unfortunately.

I don't think we see Darryl being easily drawn to any particular person right away - part of his character is that he is wary of new people, not exactly a friendly chit-chat kind of guy. Darryl was inclined to be submissive to Merle, but I don't remember it ever becoming a full-blown dominance-ownership situation, and

I forgot about that. Didn't a kid even ask for his autograph?

Oh yeah, and Jack Strawberry, re: Beth and Darryl - I wouldn't find this coupling odd, only predictable given the fact that they shared so much alone time lately. The age difference angle is getting some reaction here, which I guessed it would. As someone who was once holding the other end of the stick, I can attest
