God damn, I need less Sam/Gilly and more... anyone else. Ghost? The reanimated corpses of Pyp and Grenn? Maester Aemon talking about all the tail he had thrown at him as youth?

shot by some little Zelda/Link motherfucker

Leave Derek Zoolander out of this.

The one thing that pisses me off about modesty culture is that no one ever demands men to be role models for young boys. Charlie Sheen has done much worse things than Rihanna, and there are plenty of young boys who think he's cool, and yet there isn't one article about how he's a bad role model. If you're going to be

Every time I see a photo of her, I think "Oh shut up, Blake Lively. With your perfect body and perfect hair and lovely face."

Haters will probably hate but this is hands down the most fabulous thing I have ever laid eyes upon

Some ladies do okay without testicles.

That is a great story. Charcoal is NEVER wrong! For anything. Confession: My handbag love is very flashy. I think it's a rebellion against the careful, subdued choices my mother made in purses. Now, she likes metallic, too.

It's totally a thing.

Well these types of minimalists are living in spaces that express their resources and social prestige in other ways. They aren't moving into attic apartments with shared hallway bathrooms in rough parts of rural neighborhoods, you know?

Let me illustrate with a story. My friend K, when she was a (white, upper middle class) teenager, used to go about in dirty jeans, sweatshirts, and sneakers. One day, her sister's boyfriend, who was a (black, lower income) dude, scoffed at her for being "pretentious". She was horrified. "HOW can I possibly be

See, I think this article kind of touches on what bothers me about this "trend", but from a slightly different angle. It is sort of like these people have the luxury of getting rid of their stuff because deep down they know that if they ever truly need a thing they got rid of, they can jut buy it again. Or they can

I see what you're saying, and I also personally think flaunting your wealth can be super tacky. But I think there's also a classist element to thinking so. It's like an old money vs. new money divide. As a wise man once said, "If you grew up with holes in your zapatos, you'd celebrate the minute you was having dough."

Minimalism is incredibly classist in so many ways. The simplicity must have the element of restraint and asceticism but without the desperation of poverty. It's all so similar to Marie Antoinette's peasant cottage.

"Simplifying" and frugality were huge in the '90s. But these trends tend to be choices that are done by people who can afford choices, as you've pretty much pointed out.

Is there an Ivy League tears gif somewhere?

Noah Feldman is a real person! He's a Harvard professor! He writes for the NYT Magazine and Bloomberg! He was an advisor on Iraqi constitution! He is a very important man!

Bow-chicka-bow-wow

I know The Mindy Project's season ended very recently, but it needs to come back, like, yesterday.
