The only time I’ve been reprimanded in a museum is when I was going to touch an abstract carved stone piece of art. I really didn’t think that touching it would harm it (hello? GRANITE!?) until it was explained to me. Then I slunk away, mortified and embarrassed beyond belief, to somewhere that wasn’t the museum.

Ugh.

“But” That little word which means “don’t believe what I said before it.”

May I point out that if you are known for an “All life matters” kind of schtick, you CAN’T separate abortion from death penalty. It doesn’t work that way.

And he’ll say this while his wife is whisked away on a private jet to somewhere to have an abortion. Then he’ll announce that she miscarried and “it was all God’s will”.

How about saving YOUR self-indulgent self-righteous indignation for someting more meaningful.

Who?

Your “arguement” is specious. Nobody is saying it is a unique situation. No one is saying it’s never happened before or in other sports. We’re just saying that SHE DESERVES THE MAJORITY OF THE CREDIT, not him. And NBC should do a better job of this instead of fawning all over him.

The honorable thing to do would be to honor the person who did the sport more.

Umm, usually they wait for a reasonble amount of time before switching over to the coach. Let the athlete have their moments of glory.

Makes you think that way, doesn’t it. The fact that shrub’s alive and Molly Ivens isn’t.... is WRONG, DAMNIT.

On that theme, Peter Mayles memoirs are fun, entertaining, educational (if you’re thinking about moving to Provence especially), and re-readable.

I’m glad to see someone else like this book. Brooks is an amazing author.

Thank you for this suggestion! I love discovering new authors.

Now I know why I go to Jezebel. You people are AWESOME and have great taste in books! I agree about Jasper fforde. Great author, although he did leave me disgruntled at the ending of ‘Shades of Grey’...

ANYTHING by Moore is great. Honestly.

Re-reading is NOT a sin. I re-read books I love, and also have what I call “comfort books” to read when life is shitty. First and foremost on the Comfort Book List is ‘Through the Looking Glass’ by Lewis Carroll. Second are books by Rosamunde Pilcher. Third are memoirs by Gerald Durrell. I’ve also learned that

I had heard of, but not read, Terry Prachett until my kid made me read him AND read his blog. RIP, Terry, and THIS is how you do a slimy, evil, crappy disease like Alzheimers.

Aside from the fact that the Earthsea series is amazing, I just have to sing the praises of Ursula Le Guin. She is an amazing word artist, and I’ve met her and she’s just as great in person. She answered my kid’s question at a book signing about ‘Catwings’ with all seriousness, which my kid (almost 20 years later)
