i don’t know if ‘parenting’ ever stops. i guess it depends on your definition. i’m in my 40's and am recently divorced, and the best advice i got was from my mom. at some point ‘parenting’ turns into passing down prior experience. i never would have gotten through it without my mom. sometimes criticism stems from them…

I think movie time made it seem longer than it was. It doesn’t take very long to fire at transports. Meanwhile, we’re checking in on Canto Bight, the transport gang, Kylo and Rey, etc. I don’t think it took her more than a few minutes to make the decision. (And kamikaze tactics aren’t arrived at lightly.)

I think it’s reasonable to assume that, as this has probably never been done before, it took her some time to come up with it.

This I actually understand, though. My GP is a woman. My OBGYN is a woman. My dentist? A woman. Notably, all those offices I just mentioned are staffed entirely (I think) with women.

I don’t know, I could imagine women not wanting to be around men when they’re seeing a doc about breast enlargement or labiaplasty. These people are obviously insecure about how they appear to the opposite sex and going to a plastic surgery clinic would kind of bring that to a point.

The plotting itself in Act 2 was pointless. What Rian Johnson was trying to do (I’m not sure I totally agree with his decisions) was take the usual harebrained Star Wars convoluted Hail Mary hero plan and make it fail. And fail spectacularly.

I stand by my “Excellent review” comment, though I guess this is also, perhaps, more in line with a critical analysis than a review. FWIW, I don’t think Ackbar would have been as effective as Holdo in both the sacrifice—it’s cool to see a non-legend do something legendary—and, as you say, in Johnson’s goal of fooling…
