I don't really understand how this is related (other than the obvious weird decade long love-triangle that's been pushed down everyone's throats). I mean, yeah, the tabloid mainstays all do this: Jennifer Aniston, George Clooney, Goop, INSERT ANY CELEBRITY NAME HERE. It's all about publicity to stay famous.

I am sort of uncomfortable with our taxes paying for this. I'm not against the surgery in any way, and I support her wishes to live as a woman and be treated as a woman, but I don't really know why we as a society are paying for convicted prisoners to receive elective surgery.

Publicity isn't just to make you famous, it's to keep you famous. This stuff is keeping them famous, no doubt.
