Obviously that’s ideal, but the reality is that Lauren was a cheating, verbal and physically abusive girlfriend. So instead of being a social justice automaton, how bout’ you address that, cough, cough?

NOOOO, you have to be honest: They’re both abusers. And Lauren said they “got into a fight,” but didn’t mention anything about him punching her, which I’m sure she would have if she could, and there wouldn’t be a point in her holding back that detail because once you charge someone with everything she’s charged him

Kara no offense, but you write some of the most un-nuanced, biased non-sense I’ve ever seen. As a black guy, it sucks that you’re on the frontlines of activism by writing those whimsical articles.

He’s defending himself using a steroetypical narrative that is slightly true in this case, so he’s doing the same thing is her.

Ernest is critically acclaimed and pretty insightful. To a degree, all of his success makes that as close to objective as validation goes.

I think that is demanding too much of the man in some situations. When someone is hitting you can go into survival mode. Lauren strikes me as someone who thinks she can get away with things like this. Its funny; lauren cheated, was physically abusive and definitely called him the “n-word” and then tried to justify it

I don’t know why people have such a problem with his book. I read his essay, and he makes plenty of good points. I’ve been rejected by a girl’s family when i asked her to prom because i was black ... TWICE. There is certainly an odd racial dynamic at play when it comes to dating in America. Its so unique its certainly

Acting/filmmaking is an upper-middle class/rich people activity, which in america, is mostly white people. Also, there are a lot of white people in America ... just saying.

This is such an irresponsible generalization. For you to just assume that the white people on this competition show are there because of connections is its own kind of prejudice.

Kara, you reached SO far on this little exchange its crazy. Its a film making COMPETITION and competitions shouldn’t be based on anything but merit. The entire point of the show is to give young film makers a shot at making movies without politics being involved, so picking someone based on their gender of ethnicity
