Yeah I thought this was fairly clear from the text. The Senator says “the Kavalry are a bunch of dumb rubes, here’s what’s really going on” and then shows the video.

Guy was pretty abrasive, but I do think it’s fairly clear how the AV Club’s general politics lean more towards “affluent white NPR guy” than anything else.

Say what you will about the content, but not having Chapo Trap House on here for 2017 or 2018 is just wild.

I’d also say that only the first season is misery porn fwiw.

the entire show is on hulu. it is INCREDIBLY easy to find

Sure, it doesn’t have a high-fallutin concept to tie it all together, but thematically speaking, DAMN is probably his most sprawling and dense work. People give it shit because it’s radically different (and “easier”) than TPAB and because of the retrospective accolades it got (a pulitzer MIGHT have been stretching

As someone who put 50 hours into W3–yeah, basically. People keep telling me the post-game DLCs are fantastic but if it takes another 50 hours of repetitive gameplay in a beautiful but dull world I can’t imagine I’ll ever get there.

The Online Left also hate the Clintons, let it be known.

Him dying in prison is lazy but still way less suspicious than him getting killed waiting for an arrest.

He’d been on this row before and had gotten out of it. By his lawyer’s accounts he was feeling great about his odds just days before (as he should have, because we don’t really punish the rich).

Not that this article does this, but the initial coverage of the whole country’s brain breaking over Epstein’s very obvious murder referring to it as a “conspiracy theory” is one of the things that convinced me. Like, I know it’s a conspiracy theory by definition, but the lack of incredulity from mainstream sources

He’s right tho. Not all writers can afford a walkout in solidarity, even if it is bad praxis. Not necessarily their fault that management is a bunch of fucking gargoyles who actively hate the thing they’re running.

HBO has always been behind a paywall

I really hope this winds up being the dumbest comment in this article

This post is going to age very poorly.

Yeah, but Kendall spent the whole season acting like a worm and cowering from what he did. I think this was actually the first time he openly discussed the death all season.

I think it’s considerably stronger than Push the Sky Away (which has its moments but is, by my money, easily the weakest Cave affiliated album of the 2010s). Skeleton Tree probably gets my vote, but this record is so singular and gorgeous and weirdly affecting that I can definitely see it overtaking ST.

I felt that way for a track or two in the middle (Waiting for You and Night Raid specifically) but was blown away by everything else. The writing on Sun Forest and Bright Horses especially is unbelievably wonderful, and Hollywood might be the single strongest piece of poetry he’s ever recorded.

it moves from misanthropy and ennui to hopefulness

no Nick Cave here better mean Ghosteen is getting the full write up it deserves
