The main thing Kang hated about that hammer gag was that we really should have waited until Avengers: Endgame to see Cap pick up that hammer. If only Marvel could have just waited! That moment would have brought down the house.
Ultron’s face is a key moment when the CGI-engineers should have taken a step back. The best thing about Ultron’s design is his unchanging, gaping metallic grimace. It shouldn’t move. Make him as jokey as you want, just keep his face frozen in that maniacal mechanical smile. He would have been much creepier.
Wait, this show has Samantha Morton now? Is she being punished for something?
‘That’s not a writer’s attempt to clutch at social relevance, that’s just living in the real world.’
“but in this case the motive was to supply his daughter with a replacement.”
This season jumped the shark at the end of last episode, when it unambiguously revealed that James was behind Tom Purcell’s demise. It robbed this episode of all narrative tension and then DOUBLED DOWN on eradicating any narrative/moral ambiguity when James revealed he was faking the extent of his injuries to get…
All good scenes. But Kang might have to vote for the entire overpass/underpass fight.
That moment when Drax pets Rocket...
No one does Cap like the Russos, but his limitations are exactly what make him the most fun Avenger to watch, BECAUSE he’s just a (enhanced) guy and so there’s real physical stunt work involved. Even in Age of Ultron, which is the laziest CGI fest action-wise, Cap’s scenes are a highlight.
Congratulations, internet detective! Kang has absolutely no fucking clue what you’re talking about.
This article is very challenging and thought provoking. It seriously has made Kang begin to question whether he does in fact prefer racists over Sam Barsanti.
This article was extremely informative. It taught Kang how much he hates Sam Barsanti.
Jesus CHRIST, AVClub. In discussing a film about revenge, Liam Neeson actually-gasp-DISCUSSES THE SUBSTANCE of a film rather than burble some reheated pablum about his co-stars, and relates an extremely dark anecdote from his own life that is relevant to the subject. He clearly knows he was wrong, he clearly knows…
Counterpoint: Prince of Darkness is fucking terrifying.
^This. Madeleine Kahn’s delivery of those lines is maybe the funniest few seconds ever captured on film.
Kang read the first sentence and thought it was going to say...’Look, I’m as feminist as it gets, but AWOOOGA LOOKIT THAT MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ!’ Because that would be very real.
‘Like it or loathe it’?
Kang realizes it’s a little creepy to comment on a woman’s appearance on an internet forum. But still, he thinks it’s a bit of a shame that Abbi has gone full Hollywood-skinny.
This article is SO on point. McAdams is terrific in everything. So is Jesse Plemons, who also completely crushes his role in this movie. It’s such a treat when actors of their caliber are given juicy comic roles.
