Not to defend the man or the writing, but he does specify that it tastes that way because, it being phone sex, those are actually just words, and thus taste however he imagines them to taste.

I wish I could double- or triple-star this, because you hit the nail on the head so clearly and concisely!
No, those are the conservative, racist views of faux-progressive people in power. It has nothing to do with geography.
Exactly. I take great comfort in the fact that most people apparently perceive me as being competent, intelligent and talented, when I perceive myself as being a bumbling oaf who screws up everything he touches except when tremendously lucky.
Truce.
You didn’t ask. You directly accused the OP of trying to make it sounds like this country only belongs to white people (which was not consistent with anything else in the post). Based upon that, I misread your tone, and then you misread my tone because I didn’t make it clear enough that it was that very specific…
I don’t understand your problem with that comment. You’re inferring something (aggression? condescension?) that is absolutely not implied.
My “sad little ‘back of the theater’” comment? You mean my use of a common expression to make a point?
I think the OP was trusting in reader to do some basic interpretive work. Not every point needs to play to the back of the theater.
I’m not saying that I think there’s any lack of skill, thought or artistry involved; all I’m doing is interpreting the author’s word choice.
Maybee it’s my fleeting knowledge of the English language, but aren’t you supposed to ‘tell’ a joke instead of ‘saying’ it?
It’s not like this country only belongs to white people, but you sure are trying to make it sound that way in your comment..
Women are going to have a better job? I wonder what it is!
Wikipedia can provide the basic details, but go to YouTube for the experience. :-)
The artist is actually Klaus Nomi; “Knowmi” is a play on the lyrics of one of his most famous works, “The Nomi Song.” Look him up. In fact, look up every musician associated with Urgh! A Music War. You won’t regret it.

I absolutely agree. I suppose one could toss some adjectives in there to modify it, but then one starts to get perilously close to a sentence when what's needed here is a single word.
I'm saying I would like a word that puts down just people like Chet Haze FOR that; for their copying, for re-establishing stereotypes, for adopting speech patterns or clothing styles for "coolness" or street cred.
Try not paying your taxes for a couple of years, and see how absolute the freedom not to do anything you don't want to do, under any circumstances really is. Or how about letting your children starve because you don't feel like feeding them?
Airline tickets are contracts of adhesion. That means the airlines get to make up any rules they want, and if you want to fly, you follow them.
