That would imply that he was human.

On the plus side, at least you got to brag about how brave and cool you are on the internet.

Get an eye patch, man.

A mistake is one thing, but they never should have been using this list to determine who gets into a beta in the first place. This whole watchlist is bullshit.

That’s a very good point. When my dad died a couple years ago I was of course very sad, and had a couple of break-down moments during the funeral, but mostly I felt like I was holding up pretty well. Having a mom and younger brothers to watch out for helped.

Wow, how long have you had that one in your pocket? That was fast.

I think it will change your outlook. The first playthrough is about learning the rules and mechanics of the game. The second one will begin to unfurl its deeper themes and meanings, depending on how you choose to play it. I only killed a single enemy my first playthrough, and it was just a “random” enemy. The game

How would you know that without playing it?

It is not that simple. For Undertale that literally could not be further from the truth. I was 14 hours in and on my second playthrough and the game was still surprising me. It's better at doing that than just about any game I've ever played.

Nope, it’s intentional design, and the story literally couldn’t be told any other way. If you haven’t bothered to play it, you’re not in a position to pass judgment on whether it works or not (it does).

No way. You don't even begin to get a proper understanding of what the game is doing until your second play through the story.

The headlines are pissing you off? Really? How fucking long does it take you to read a headline?

That’s the thing, it’s not that the story is good (though it is) that makes Undertale great. It’s that the story is everything. The menu options are part of the story. The title screen is part of the story. The save and load options, and how and when you use them are part of the story.

Yeah, I'm sure that guy with less than an hour played has a very nuanced and informed opinion about the game.

Nah, if you’ve followed the hype or the “controversy,” maybe, but I just played it last week and I was able to go in completely unspoiled.

Keep with it. It requires at least 2 playthroughs to really “get it,” to the point that one playthrough isn’t really “completing” the game. A second playthrough is actually just the second half of the game....

Do you have a disease that forces you to read things you don’t want to? I mean, here you are on an article about something you say you don't want to hear about. So how did you get here?

Don’t read starter tips. Let the game unfold itself for you. It will tell you everything you need to know, even if you don't understand it all at first. That's intentional. The discovery of what is actually going on is a big part of the fun.

Undertale is great because of how it tells its story. The story itself has all the usual strong themes and archetypes. Hero’s journey, the choice between good and evil, living with the consequences of your decisions, etc. Characters and relationships are shaped by the moral compass of the protagonist. It’s deceptively
