It’s impolite because that time they want to go back to, that “age of civility,” is really just a time when their power was “safe.” When white men were in control, white men had always been in control, and that’s just how it was. You could wink-wink nudge-nudge with other white dudes because everyone was on the same

People don’t want to rattle cages because they think it will cause mass disarray.

It’s class solidarity in action -- just that their solidarity is with the wrong classes.

“You don’t understand! I’m rich, old, and white! This important government office, held in the public trust, is supposed to be my cushy reward for a lifetime of playing the snobby rich Socialite game! It’s not supposed to be hard!”

I realize that anecdotes aren’t the plural for data, but it’s been my experience with Boomers and Silents with power that this is the defining generational divide. Not to dismiss the racism and misogyny, at all. But whether we talk about Democrats or Republicans, people or who are pro or anti-structural racism,

I know - it’s rarely, “my constituents don’t want it.” It’s always about how hard it is.

These people always sound so whiny when asked to do their damn jobs, even if it gets ugly.

He has also doomed billions to a rising climate that will lead to hundreds of millions of deaths, displaced refugees, and other strife for generations to come. But, I guess he did create a few thousand low paying jobs and funded cancer research after he was diagnosed with cancer. Totally outweighs how he helped doom

Get fucked.

The late 90's/early 00's were such a weird time for Marvel. It was like watching a neighbor who lost his job try and make some extra cash by pawning everything he didn’t absolutely need.

“I’d like to speak to your manager.”

How is it not a great deal?  With marvel at the helm these are the best SpiderMan movies they’ve ever made and they’re making more money than ever.  Sony proved with the Amazing Spiderman movies they suck at making Spiderman movies.

“Some 80 percent of Florida’s ex-felons eligible to vote will be barred from registering under a new state law, including a disproportionate number of blacks, despite a clear majority of voters approving a change to the state’s constitution meant to restore their voting rights.”

The fact that you can look at Andrew Garfield and Blue Jaime Foxx, and think it’s unfair that Disney would ask for more than just 5% is hysterical.

It’s weird that people keep bringing Spider-Verse up like it was some big turning point for Sony’s handling of the franchise. As others said, Sony just didn’t give Spider-Verse much attention. Now that it’s considered one of the best, won them an Oscar, they’ll be paying just as much attention to their Spider-Verse

Venom ONLY made bank because the marketing made it seem like it was an MCU film and it tricked people into thinking it was going to be a film with that level of quality.

Don’t be a fucking idiot. The ONLY reason SPider-Verse was good was because it was off the radar of SOny’s idiot execs, they didn’t see it as a blockbuster money maker so they let the creatives do what they want. VENOM came out after Spider-Verse, it was what they were hoping was going to be a blockbuster, and it was

But... Sony isn’t doing any of the work. So they’re making bank, right? I dunno. Marvel and Disney seem to be doing the heavy lifting.

Venom was bad and I was surprised it did as well as it did. Basic plot, the actors were ok (Tom Hardy is amazing but he’s always amazing), everything else was pretty cut-and-dry. My friends who go to every marvel movie went to see it and they left pretty much with “yeah it was ok.” They weren’t mad, but weren’t in

Marvel was paying nearly all of the production costs in exchange for getting Spider-Man. It seems fair, now that they’ve shown their take on the character is wildly successful that the two companies share the costs and profit a little more fairly.
