This is BS. His take home was more like $40k. The mileage deduction is intended to cover his vehicle maintenance, fuel, car depreciation, etc. It shouldn’t be counted twice. Plus, his car was likely near worthless with well over 300k miles at the start of last year, so the depreciation is inflated.

It was too little, too late. Should have had a manual from day 1. It was NEVER going to be a big seller, it’s ugly and not a Toyota, but every little bit would have helped.

What do you mean hurr durr is a BMW. It IS a BMW. The engine is BMW. The chassis is BMW. It’s built in the same factory as a BMW. Its VIN tag has a BMW logo on it.

TL/DR: I had an auto Supra for about 1 year. It was very good. I’d prefer a manual. Pick up a manual Supra and you probably will never lose money on it. They will be good future classics. I don’t get the sales drop in Supras—dealers I talked to say they can never get them in. Is it truly a demand drop, or is it just

Too many car people got caught up in the “hurr durr is a BMW achtually” memes when this came out to take it seriously, which is unfortunate.

Worse...

Oh, that kind of flip. My mind went...

And yet many of those people blame Biden and Mayor Pete for everything troubling them.

Yeah I don’t get this one either. It’s not like a Prius gets 20MPG at 80 mph. Sure it may not be optimal, but Prius drivers can also be running late just like the rest of us. I’d rather then be doing 80 on the freeway than 50.

Prius counterpoint: I just did a ~3400 mile roadtrip in my 2017. Much of it was done at ~80mph through places like Texas.

Pick up just about any random Porsche enthusiast magazine and you’ll find some article covering a 1978-94 (or thereabouts) model that has covered 400,000 miles, and hasn’t even had its valve guides done... About the only thing that regularly breaks are the electric window switches (I keep replacements in the glove

Not to victim blame, but I’d love to know what percent of the deaths increased because of people having absolutely no idea how to exist on the road with semis and/or good old distracted driving. I see people blindly pull in front of semis all the time, assuming a 30 ton semi can stop in the same amount of time as a

That image of the car charging is worrisome. Please make sure your car is in park before masturbating. This isn’t a Cronenberg movie.

Did something happen before this that we didn’t see? This is such an odd thing to be pissed off about.

When I went in 2014, because I spent a year (~2000 hours) building a peddle-powered art vehicle (Shamancycle) the camp we built it for paid for my ticket in and camp fees (which included food and shower), and allowed us early entry. It rained on opening day. Until it dries up, it is IMPOSSIBLE to drive responsibly and

I’d rather hang out with dirty naked art freaks on acid for 2 weeks than NFL fans for 2 hours. Call me a snob.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure there are plenty of families that spend way more money to go to freaking Disneyland. Or on any vacation, really.

Bro, let’s be serious. Just because you can take a vacation of some duration for some cost does not make you rich.

I couldn’t agree more and came here to post this. The article complains about “the rich” at least twice, and it’s a lame and unfounded judgment of attendees. Even if it is somehow true (which is isn’t) that everyone at the festival is “rich”, it’s just a divisive judgment that degrades from the credibility of Jalop’s

They really aren’t.  I don’t go but I volunteer at a bike coop and met a lot of people preparing to go.  Not one of them falls into the burner stereotype being promoted here & elsewhere.
