Agreed. I live very close to Yosemite. We stay away for the summer months because it’s just insane. Luckily there are a few much less crowded places just a stones throw away from Yosemite.

As someone who has camped all his life in CA, the price is expensive yes, (everything in this goddamn state is) but you can do a lot on public lands, not sure where you were but in Northern Cali you can.
