Seems like as good a place as any to ask, but does anyone know of a gaming news site that keeps opinion to a minimum outside of reviews? That just reports factually and that’s it? I’ve been reading Kotaku for years but I don’t particularly enjoy seeing strong opinions on things this small. I just personally prefer to

Eh, I prefer minimalism when it comes to controller designs. Putting pictures on a controller usually looks really gaudy. This is perfect for me. The Smash logo and white grips make it look really classy to me.

Right, and Sega’s recently announced Sega Ages plan suggests that it’ll be up to individual publishers to re-release their classic games on the Switch on their own rather than working with a unified, streamlined program like the Virtual Console.

Looks like a sub-based model, from my reading.

Them: “The all-digital future will be great! No one needs physical media anymore! Get with the program, olds!”

Me: “You won’t own a damn thing you purchase (not that we did with physical media either; dem EULAs), and eventually, companies will start selling your childhood back to you via subscription services.”

Them:

Still kinda ridiculous. You can’t be sued for making a game that has sexist elements, and no press is bad press. This is a pretty sad marketing ploy, say something to get a headline and get a spike in sales.

So he’s putting the sexism label on so he can basically moan about “SJWs” and the like given his comments.

No, it’s just more of the tacky ‘offense marketing’ these guys do. Point out that feminists will hate your game, or SJWs will hate your game (even if no one even noticed your game), get a bunch of knee-jerk sales from dudes desperate to show people how, like, totally galaxy brain they are about women as objects.

Except it’s not the opposite? He’s literally saying, “My game isn’t sexist, but it does treat women as little more than sex objects and rewards for the male protagonists”, which is textbook narrative sexism.

Nah, it’s not attractive women that are the problem, it’s that they’re naked (Steam censors the game) and the dev fully admits in this article that women are just sexual objects and dependent entirely on men.

Would have respected it more if he didn’t walk back on it.

Obligatory mention that having attractive or sexy people doesn’t make something sexist, it’s how you treat said characters. If, as the developer says, he’s used them as “passive sexual objects” it’s probably atleast a twinge sexist. I’m not saying anyone should blow this out of proportion as the worst thing evarrr.

The dev sounds like the oversensitive one here.

1. no
2. the warning in this case was the dev putting a chip on their shoulder to dare anyone into getting into a fight about it
3. “triggered” is a really tacky meme that undermines the lives of PTSD sufferers and abuse victims, please knock it off

How so very very “I’m not racist, but”

For example, women used the term ‘bad’ to describe sex that was both unwanted and unpleasurable.
