Live action adaptations of Anime or anime-like cartoons always suck!
It’s either going to be too dry without the energy of the original or the comedy is going to seem too awkward with live actors.

Each specific scene of Lynch meeting all the Gen 13 parents are really great, though they do get really repetitive when they are done one after another like that.
It’s the ‘Teen Titans Go!’ effect, where the “jokes” matter more than characterization, plot or even world immersion.

It was definitely better than both Episodes 7 and 8.
To be fair there was no real way of keeping her in the film without breaking the flow of the story, so at this point people are just mad that they had a big name black female actress in that role.
