it was kinda more brutal in the comics but here there was more depth to it on the show because of the connection both men shared. (the only thing special about Jigsaw in the comics is the fact that he somehow keeps surviving encounters with Frank)

Drab realism isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it really depends on the characters and the story you want to tell. (aka, not EVERYTHING is Batman)
