Empower women my fucking pasty ass, you dipshit. Smug assholes like you are why women don't come forward.

As a female criminal defense lawyer who has represented sex offenders, the idea that Hillary Clinton is being vilified for doing her job is astounding to me. Guess what? Criminal defense lawyers HAVE to zealously advocate for their clients, even ones that they KNOW are guilty. Why? Because that's the way the

Elizabeth Warren! I also love Gwen Moore, but she needs more experience / exposure.

I agree with you on this one. She has MANY faults, but this isn't one of them. I'm sorry you have experienced sexual assault. But I'm proud that you have obviously done well and moved beyond it to success!

Why would I be 'seriously disturbed' that a defense attorney defended a criminal in a court proceeding? That's the job, and the constitution requires it.

I'm not seeing the connection between these stories. One is about a person doing her job, and the other is about animal abuse.

See, I respectfully disagree. I think the severe ideological polarities of the current U.S. political landscape force us to politicize every single decision and act of every person with a political ambition or career.

It's a rock and a hard place. The honest thing would be to admit she was wrong. She admits she was wrong, it turns into an out of context soundbite for the election season.

OK, so Hillary Clinton, as part of her job, defended a rapist, and impugned a rape victim's story, but acted according to her professional duties and the Constitution.

I think it's sad as people that evolution is considered hypocrisy as if we should reward politicians who refuse to change and transform like society does. Like that is remotely a desirable trait.

Also, if the victim was a sixth-grader and is now 52, that would have made Hillary around 25/26 at the time - early in her career. It also doesn't sound to me like she's sending that rapist a Christmas card every year, you know? She was just doing her job - someone had to give him his Constitutional rights.

how is putting on a zealous defense and getting her client a plea deal - vile? any defense attorney will tell you that personal morals notwithstanding it is the job of the lawyer to do whatever it takes within the bounds of the law to provide the best defense for the client, including questioning the story of the

well I know the story I'll be sick of hearing about for the next 2.5 years.

I bet you could find equally morally queasy work if you went back far enough for any attorney. The "slutshaming a sixth grader" aspect looks especially wrong to us today, but in 1975 it's probably what any attorney would have done.

That's the first thing I thought while reading this. Do these people think we should simply abandon anyone accused of crimes we deem too heinous ?

Is this the new political tactic against all lawyers — find out their client roster and impugn them for doing their job to represent them? Not everyone is in a position to cherry pick clients for whom they have no conflict (whether as a solo practitioner or associate at a large BigLaw firm) and certainly, when the

Boy, wouldn't it be awful to have a president who believed that everyone deserves legal representation, regardless of the crime they are charged with? Like you know, what is considered someone's constitutional rights? I mean, fuck, you know, I think it's ridiculous to give shit someone actually doing their job.

If you're going to judge lawyers for defending people accused of terrible crimes, you might as well throw away the entire justice system and the constitution while you're at it.

As an attorney, I find it offensive that somehow her work defending this guy AS HIS COURT APPOINTED ATTORNEY could somehow be used against her.

Lawyers sometimes take cases, and clients, that are distasteful. But, you still have to provide representation.
