And what would be the nightmare Series? I think if it is Texas Rangers versus Washington Nationals (or maybe San Francisco Giants), they will have to keep network executives away from razor blades and tenth floor windows. At least all of the eligible National League teams are from good-sized or popular markets, and

I don’t think that gamblers would fix baseball games like 1919 anymore, but I suspect that networks and advertisers would collude or fix if they could get away with it, in this case, for a Red Sox-Cubs series. But as zanejosh notes, It would be a great draw: future HOF Ortiz along with the most notable young stars in

If the Cards fail to make the playoffs, how loud will the cries be to fire Matheny? Does he get a pass for prior success or do fans want his head for not making the playoffs and not having won a World Series since LaRussa left?

I don’t care what the Cardinals do, as long as the Giants win. Right now I am watching as the Giants lead 5-1 and Vin Scully is talking about watching theGiants at the Polo Grounds.

“Tax invasion”? Is that like when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

How is this different from “Piss Christ”? Buy a cheap plastic cross, put it in a jar and then fill it with urine. Get photos and smear them with tootpaste.

The correct term is what old guys in Hawaii say: “Sanfrancalifrisco”.

I remember that when I was a child in the ‘60s, Arnold Palmer did a cigarette commercial on TV.

Good defense strategy for a car thief.

“I’m Carlos Slim and I approve this message. Which I paid for.”

Yes

I haven’t seen the show. What percentage of the team is of Caribbean or Hispanic origin? That would be a good indication of its accuracy.

Was it Tulsa or another city in Oklahoma where that older reserve officer shot and killed someone? Maybe that state ought to do emphasize to local departments to better screen applicants to work for their departments, or give them better training

Not sure how Oklahoma law is, but in some states the difference between murder and manslaughter is that murder requires an “intentional or knowing” state of mind while manslaughter requires a “reckless” state of mind. Maybe the prosecution thinks that jurors give the benefit of a doubt to police and that jurors think

You are forgetting the white officer who shot the fleeing man in South Carolina. I think he was charged with murder.

And there are no worries in a sport where a three-hundred pound guy can much more easily hit your knees and cripple you for life?

Normally, the “pie-ing” would be an assault. If KJ had seen the guy getting close and starting to throw, and had grabbed, pushed, or struck him in an attempt to prevent the pie-ing, that could be self defense. KJ could have used reasonable force to grab him and restrain him until the police arrived to arrest him.

I think that a protest starts and after it builds, people who want to riot and loot come out and use the protest as cover. That is probably what happened in Ferguson and Baltimore, and probably here.

If the windows were broken but nothing was taken, maybe “vandalized” is abetter term than looted.

Sandoval (drooling): “Chili? Where?”
