No. This is a shit answer.
No. This is a shit answer.
So what are you proposing? That power dynamics be outlawed?
It’s a contract. You can agree to anything that isn’t actually illegal in a contract. Consenting adults agreeing to bind themselves to essentially private law.
Do you think the following contract should be illegal?
I like that cut of your jib. You have no idea what you’re actually talking about so you go on the offense telling people who do know that they’re stupid. How very 2016 of you.
Do elaborate on your theory of why “this should be illegal.” It really doesn’t make sense.
[edited to remove my comment as the Deadspin writer (unsurprisingly) doesn’t actually describe what the actual contract provisions are]
But it is not one sided. The guaranteed money is just that guaranteed. The player chould choose to not block, throw pics, not tackle, etc... and its still guaranteed, I would argue that that portion is one sided because a company can not recover that. The roster bonus in a sense balances this out because it creates…
I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but negotiating contracts is practically the only job of an agent. The reality of the situation was stated in the article, that Kaep bet on himself that he was going to be a stud for the next 8 years. That isn’t completely unheard of (see Ricky Williams).
Sorry, but you cannot put it all on the owners. The players agreed to the current CBA. Kaepernick didn’t have to sign a restructered deal. Instead, if he goes out, and plays well, he can get out of a bad contract, and sign elsewhere, for more money.
I’m not sure you understand what a contract is. It’s not really a tool solely to designate the transfer of money from one party to another. It’s a “meeting of the minds” whereby terms are agreed between two parties- one agrees to engage in certain actions in exchange for a reciprocal agreement from the other. There’s…
Yes. Kanye Kap should obtain an agent who actually cares for a black man. This contract is unbelievably racist
Because it is fairly bargained. A lack of balance of negotiating power isn’t, and shouldn’t be, grounds for invalidating a collectively bargained agreement.
C B A.
NFL players should form a union of some sort. An association of players if you will.
It is the agents job to represent the player and steer clear of bad contracts. No one forced Kaepernick to sign. Lets not forget his 2015 stats In 9 games he completed 6 TDs and 5 Interceptions, with a completion percentage of 59% and qb rating of 78.5. Its a far cry from his first 3 years in the league.
If you’re looking for someone to defend the fundamental fairness of non-guaranteed contracts in the most dangerous sport, I don’t think you’re going to find someone. It is in fact really shitty for the players. Their union didn’t do as good a job negotiating as those in other sports, so other sports have guaranteed…
they reworked his deal so he can start and be the terrible qb that he is. The 49ers can say “told you he sucked” to the fan base, than cut him and get rid of his off the field b.s.
