I use this for everything. Headphones, power cords, extension cords, USBs. It's something everyone should learn - like tying shoelaces for the digital age.
If you install over your existing version of Firefox, all of your bookmarks will be left untouched. :)
I think those criticisms were true in the past, but not the present. Laptops don't have to be bulky anymore. We have netbooks that fit inside purses. And I don't think it's impossible to design an operating system that uses the same file system in multiple interface configurations. These are soluble problems.
Well, I do, for now. But I think there's no denying that the touch interface is a lot more convenient for some tasks. And I generally like to minimize the number of different devices that I have to manage.
Thanks.
I'm still waiting for the first well-executed convertible notebook. I think today's hardware is ready for it, especially with the advent of SSDs. All that's missing is an operating system that can successfully adapt its interface for both touch and mouse/keyboard input (and perform well in both modes).
All for want of two words?
I suppose I'll have a friend preread your articles in the future. ;)
I don't hold it against the spoilerers, either. But I know I usually feel bad when I realize that I've spoiled something unintentionally. I'm not saying it should be a capital offense, just that forewarning the presence of spoilers is a good habit to be in.
I don't know how much is too much, but it's probably somewhere beyond prefixing two words to an article. Firefly is a well-regarded show that is still being circulated and discovered by new viewers, and all I'm suggesting is a small measure that costs us nothing but may improve some of those viewers' enjoyment of the…
Arguably true. It couldn't hurt, though, could it?
This post needs a spoiler alert. (A certain line about Wash in the second and third choruses.)
Google Voice is basically the reason I wanted an Android phone.
I do exactly what you're doing. I think that's how it's supposed to work. I usually know more or less what kind of font I need for a project - handwriting, for example, or clean sans-serifs for a website, so I find it helpful to be able to load only the fonts I need. Not just because it's easier on the system, but…
Hm. I don't see the advantage of this over Chrome's built-in keywords. It's a little easier to set up, I guess, but the benefit of that seems outweighed by the cost of having to prefix every keyword (e.g. "b gmail" instead of simply "gmail").
...I can't believe I'm involved in this conversation. But again, I meant that, no matter whether the fault of lower system performance due to installed fonts lies with Microsoft or with application developers, the lower performance is an issue that the end user has to deal with. Utilities like NexusFont assist the…
I meant that it doesn't make a difference in terms of performance. I'm not assigning blame, I'm just addressing a problem.
