@John T. Haller: Wow. I didn't know portable apps could be made available so fast. Thanks for the work.

Awesome. I must have missed the Alt+Drag article when you posted it, 'cause I've been looking for something like it for ages.

@kasakka: Firefox has a unique advantage in this area: all of its interfaces, from the chrome to the options menu to the bookmarks manager, are written in web formats. HTML, JavaScript, etc. This makes it easy for addons to modify even the deepest browser elements. I'm sure that a more hard-coded approach like

@philosopher_dog: You're not the first Mac user I've heard say this. A friend of mine uses Safari, Firefox, Camino, and Chrome interchangeably. It boggles my mind.

@nukee: Excellent.

@gadgetOCD: On Windows? Really? I've found that it's a huge download for a browser, it's slow, its visual presentation is very shoddy - poor antialiasing and animations, especially. It doesn't integrate at all with the OS or other applications, which could save a lot on resources and speed. Honestly, I just can't see

While Safari for Windows is still a worthless piece of bloatware, I have to hand it to Apple: they've implemented the easiest, most painless extension installer in the market. It's literally one click: there's no dialog, and no browser restart. Won't be at all surprised to see Google and Mozilla taking notes.

@tselby: That seems a little excessive just to improve the performance of a beta application.

@Prairie Moon: I'm sure it won't be hard to change that behavior with some modification or tiny extension.

@espekia: I think it's a Firefox tab that happens to be open to One Thing Well. You can see the app tabs on the left.

@Daniel Bentley: Hm. Does Chrome have an equivalent or alternative to TabCandy? I don't think TabCandy is ready for prime time, either, but in either case, it doesn't seem to be an inferior copy of a Chrome feature.

@Eric Davis: Neither. It was Harsha Kotcherlakota, over a month before they showed up in Chrome. (Or, if you want to divide credit, the creators of FaviconizeTab and PermaTabs, collectively.)

@Daniel Bentley: Out of curiosity, what features do you consider to be poorly-implemented in Firefox?

Yay! One less thing I'll need an extension for.

@WestwoodDenizen: I think a service like Simplenote is most appealing to people who are frequently traveling, or otherwise switching between desktops, laptops, mobile devices and public computers. If you spend the bulk of your time on a single system, the value is less apparent.

I've been using this sporadically for a couple of days now. The only reason it bothers me is that I prefer to keep my documents - even plaintext notes - sorted into folders by project. It helps me keep my focus if I have Explorer open to the project I'm working on, with access to all (and only) its own files, and it

@Condalmo: Make sure to download the Beta version at the bottom of the page. The current version doesn't have Simplenote support.
