It doesn't sound like anything Launchy can't handle. The Weby plugin doesn't come with quite as many pre-loaded search algorithms, granted. And I will have to see what the "aliases" and "spreadsheets" are about.
I'm a bit shocked. I had no idea this was such a controversial divide.
Brett emailed me about this a while back; I must apologize for never having replied.
@CompuMan: Pleased to be of service. :)
Yeah, I don't get the whole car thing. But to each his own. :)
I always meant to give Texter a try, but never got around to it. I think its day has come.
@bluecloud: To answer your question, I see my desktop when I press Win+M to look at it.
@XenophonAhriman: When I reworked Enigma for public release, one of my goals was to provide a good starting point for people who were interested in customizing their desktops but weren't sure where to start. As far as I'm concerned, one of the very best ways to use Enigma is to completely gut it from the inside out…
@Phoshi: I disagree, actually. A lot of the emails I get about Enigma are from people wondering how I got rid of the Windows taskbar. I didn't, of course, so I always have to disappoint them, but your Samurize task manager thingy might be a new trend waiting to be unleashed upon the world. ;)
@Ping: Well, to be fair, this isn't a desktop screenshot. It's an actual downloadable utility. I think it's safe to say that most of the pool entrants don't make their own tools, much less tailor them for public release. Although if there are others who do, I'm all for sharing the spotlight.
@Evan Livingston: If you don't want to be a flamer, you might want to reconsider opening with "fucking assholes."

I suppose I have to question Digsby's place in the "tray app" class. If it's just because it minimizes to the tray, then by that standard, we could include iTunes or OpenOffice in the same category.
@peanut_butter: Well, if I was in charge of making it, I'd certainly make the extra features optional. Like you, I depend on Launchy's speed and light footprint. I'm just hoping that as the technology improves, the relative memory tax of a few simple widgets will shrink to negligibility.
@EMH8220: Nice. I've considered doing exactly that. Would you mind sharing your AHK scripts? I'd love to know how you managed it.
A while ago, I posted a desktop setup that simulates a vision I have for Launchy. I envisioned modular plugins that could include not only app shortcuts, but active widgets (clock, sys mon, etc.), intuitively centered on Launchy's command line. I look forward to seeing how Docky evolves; it's very close to what I had…
