When you mention "black people can joke about black people," I get really itchy about a possible "black people can say the n-word but white people can't" comparison. You might need to be particular about that.

You're putting a lot of effort into this as I just press dismiss on your replies.
I love me a good dismiss button when someone crosses a line from argumentative to whatever hodgepodge you are.
oh, and Don Rickles. Don't know if he's Jewish but his name must be mentioned in connection with outrageous/insult humor.
there's also how well crafted and delivered the jokes are. I know intent means shit but if there's a way the intent changes the craftsmanship of the joke to not be a simple statement of "I think these people are inferior to me."
no, I mean like a libertarian, when you first started talking, I agreed with you but then you kept talking and I thought "GOD NO! DEMON! KILL IT WITH FIRE!" for how horribly wrong you are.
You must be a libertarian. You start talking, everything sounds good and then suddenly "WAIT A SECOND, FUCK NO!!!"
where have you been? Jezebel writers inspiring young feminists and therefore they have a responsibility? Plus, they're all individual writers and not some monolith.
troll doing a bad job trolling (not you)
Oooookay. I just think that Phoenix and other Jez writers and commenters don't know or don't understand her ground breaking career and how her accomplishments then are just as amazing now.
I also agree with this except I don't care about it. I think I already gave her old comedian yells at clouds status when the fashion snarks became too much.
I'm so with you on this.
more so for me, she's from a different era. She can do pretty much whatever she wants right now and I'm okay with it (I won't necessarily like it). I just didn't like the tone that the post was written in. Most comedians aren't still pumping out projects and material at her age. And w/ her style, talk about commitment!
I have no problem saying this was a shit joke that uses out of date "outrageous" and possibly racist/transphobic language and tropes or criticizing her in general. However I DO have a problem ignoring how historic and important Joan Rivers has been for women and women in comedy.
But Slenderman.
here.
Agreed!
"Drowsy housewives" have a lot of shit to get done besides watching the Today Show. Many moms also work from home while taking care of their child. This is soooo NOT about housewives.
STOP KNOWING THINGS AND BEING SMART! YOU'RE MAKING ME FEEL BAD!!!
