I heartily agree with you. First, the incomprehensibly ornate (and semi-functional) new layout, then a decline into hyperbole and triviality. A little of that stuff goes a very long way, Giz. Perhaps a senior editor with some backbone and a whip would be in order?

I agree that the Giz leadin was crass, but the video was very well done, and emphasizes the pride the guy has in his operation. It's a good contrast to the larger scale meat packing operations. Another excellent reason to patronize local businesses who care about the people (and animals) they serve.

Wouldn't the chilling ability depend on the temp of the "cold" water? Or does this dishwasher have a [completely unnecessary and energy-hogging] chiller built-in?

Having just installed a new dishwasher, I can confirm that US dishwashers typically only connect to the hot supply line.

Wait until you hear about the computers they're using to keep track of the planes :-)

Where is the union???

So you spend $45 and get a bunch of blurry, over- or under- exposed photos of some place that might be Greece? AND you get to pay to get them developed? What a deal!

I have a friend who is an ATC. Their work schedule consists of 2 weeks on each shift, rotating. Studies have shown that that is pretty much the worst way to have someone who is alert and ready to handle emergencies. No wonder these guys are napping!

It's unlikely they won't search your car. Technically, they require your permission or probable cause, but in reality, they'll lock you up until the warrant comes through if you refuse to grant permission for a search.

Yup. Wouldn't be in the back of *my* car!

Google is wonderful. It's a Japanese knee mortar round:

Looks like there's a safety pin through the fuze. But still...

One of the small, minor, almost insignificant things that bothered me about W, was his inability to correctly pronounce the word "nuclear". I mean, how tough is it to pronounce correctly? Everyone around you can. If you have your "finger on the button"; the power to destroy a good portion of the world, whenever you

Hey, he doesn't suck any worse than the previous guy.

"Where's the fancy buttons and stuff "

I, personally, feel that *anyone*, legal or illegally in the country, who enlists and serves honorably, should earn citizenship. A lot of 18 year old "illegals" were brought here by their parents as young children. If they are willing to earn citizenship by doing military service, it seems like they're the kind of

My son is an Army officer. He says they have gotten very selective lately. Due to the bad economy, they can take their pick of recruits. So, right now, it would be hard to get in. However, I believe they may be less selective when the economy is good.

You don't need to be a citizen to enlist, but you *do* need to be a permanent resident, or eligable to become one. And yes, they check! However, once you are in, it is a fast track to citizenship.

The books were far better, but the movies were pretty darn good, even though (out of necessity, I realize) they left out about 50% of the book material. I found myself enjoying the fact that they were in Swedish...subtitles were well done (perfectly timed) in the two I saw on the screen, the downloaded one was

Merde.
