Air France pilot thought he was back in Paris, driving his Citroen around the Arc de Triomphe.

The last films I saw were the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, subtitled, at a small indy theatre. Missed the third one, so ended up downloading it. Good films, good books. I hear the US studios are going to take a whack at them. I probably won't go to see those.

Parasailing with a lawyer?

I think the secret is to "throw everything at them and see what sticks". We tried to present both children with as many opportunities as we could The computers were a byproduct of my job (engineering), and I knew they would be important, but we also took them hiking and camping, and made sure they had an opportunity

"When a felon's not engaged in his employment..."

I wanted the same for my daughter. Having a computer in her room was one thing I did (before Internet), she loved playing Popcorn, Tetris and Pac-Man. I encouraged her to help me when I did chores around the house, let her hammer and hand me nails and wire nuts and such. She's an IT project manager now. I guess it

Women did "men's" jobs during WWII. When the men came back from the war, there was going to be an unemployment problem if the women were allowed to continue working. So, the "June Cleaver" ideal of the perfect wife was promoted...staying home, making dinner and letting the man earn the money. Families could survive

You want the armo(u)red version:

Yeah, your process makes a lot more sense. The only time we (in industry) destroy a drive, is when it's either obsolete or broken. Otherwise we wipe, reformat and pass it on to the next lower level of user. Politicians should be prevented from access to shredders and the like. :-) Sometimes they seem to forget that

Standard procedure and official state policy to destroy public records? What you probably meant to say, was that after the drives are backed up, they're securely destroyed when the PC is recycled. Otherwise, you're inviting an investigation. Of course, I can think of a number of reasons the executive office of a

There's no reason this couldn't still be technically possible. Unfortunately, the market window has probably closed. Photographers have moved on, dumped their film bodies, and now demand auto focus, image stabilization and more. But imagine an old-school Nikon F-series with a replacement 24MP sensor back. Nice.

Completely agree. I always said that the only problem with organized religion, was the "organized" part, i.e.: the hierarchy of folks who were in some way supposed to be "closer to God" than you. If God is truly omniscient and omnipotent, then why does he/she/it need an organization to communicate his/her/its will?

I'll admit to it, too. No more arguments about who left the seat up, and no more oversplash to clean. As a bonus, no need to turn the light on when I go at night.

Keep thinking I'll get one of those for the wife. We'd be the only ones in the neighborhood with a remote for our toilet...

"The constitution is supposed to be law in America, it just isn't."

Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony!

I have always thought of QEII as the embodiment of "class". She pulled her weight as a teenager during the war, became Queen at the age of 26 and has stood as a contrast to the sometimes embarrassing shenanigans of the other royals. The lady has proven herself worthy of our respect.
