@JasonKit: Sorry to disappoint; Mythbusters showed it will be totally useless for shooting anything underwater. If the shark does a tailstand or jumps over your kayak, though, it may be of some use, but best use full auto and empty the whole clip...don't want to be like Quint!

@kansasgirl: Yeah, I figured it was probably a good chunk of change to repak/inspect that slide (if it can even be reused). My point was that he doesn't deserve jail time (unless he doesn't pay).

He didn't hurt anyone, the only damage was the "theft" of two cans of beer and the cost of repacking/inspecting the slide. Give the guy a break and call it even after he pays restitution.

@R.b.3: I think you're seriously confused regarding the way GPS hardware works. NMEA is a baseband serial interface, very similar to RS-232.

@R.b.3: Probably need to re-read your GPS manual, there, R.b. Users don't need to transmit anything to get a fix.
